Johnsons Of Western Kentucky

Coming To America From England, John Johnson II Settled In Jockey's Neck, James City County, Virginia. James Johnson III Son Robert I. Johnson Later Moved To The Isle Of Wight, Virginia. Robert I. Johnson Son James Johnson Started A New Life South In Old Dobbs County, North Carolina. This Was The Start Of This Johnson Line In North Carolina Isaiah Johnson Land Grant . Isaiah Johnson Lived In Lenoir County, North Carolina At His Death. Isaiah Johnson Son James "John" Johnson As Well Lived In Lenoir County, North Carolina When Seven Of His Children Moved West To Kentucky. Johnson Family Tradition Is That Seven Of The Siblings, Five Brothers And Two Sisters, Came To Western Kentucky From North And Or South Carolina. They May Have Come With The Nichols-Early-Price Families Of About 50-60 People, Probably About 1812. The Johnson's That Moved to Kentucky From North And Or South Carolina To Kentucky Where Robert, Samuel, Isaac, John, James II, Also Two Of Their Sisters Unity And Lenore. John, Lenore And James Sold Their Land They Had In Darlington County, South Carolina Darlinton Land Grants . Later Moving On To Illinois Where Isaac, Robert And Samuel. Lenore "Lanie" Johnson Kea Ended Up Back In South Carolina With Husband Thomas Kea. Don't Really Know Why Lanie Would Have Gone To Kentucky Unless It Had Something To Do With The War Of 1812.

My Line Is From James "Jimmy" Johnson II.  James Was Born December 20, 1799 In Lenoir, Dobbs County, North Carolina And Died April 12, 1879 In Providence, Webster County, Kentucky. James Had Married Four Different Times Before His Death. His First Marriage Was To Sarah Ann "Sally" Phillips On February 06, 1819, They Had One Child. When Sarah Ann Died In 1826 James Then Married My 3 X Great Grandmother Marina "Rina" Nichols On January 25, 1827 In Hopkins County, Kentucky. James & Marina Had Nine Children, Two Daughters And Seven Sons. This Is The Line I Come From. After Marina Died September 08, 1858 James Married His Third Wife Bethany Parker Harmon On March 28, 1860. There Where No Children From This Marriage. When This Marriage Didn't Work For Very Long My 3 X Great Grandfather Married For The Fourth And Final Time A Sarah Ann Nichols On March 19, 1866 In Webster County, Kentucky. Sarah Ann Nichols Is The Niece Of James Second Wife Marina "Rina" Nichols Johnson. James And Sarah Ann Had Seven Children In This Marriage. Three Daughters And Four Sons.

At The Death Of James "Jimmy" Johnson II  JohnsonWills , He Had Fathered Seventeen Children And Acquired Close To Three Hundred And Fourty Acres Of Land. On His Land He Had Two Family Cemeteries, One In Crittenden County And One In Webster County. James Is Buried With Second Wife Marina "Nina" Nichols Johnson In Their Johnson Cemetery In Webster County, Kentucky.   Johnsons 2nd Generation In Kentucky .
